An immersive art and dining experience

The Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) is proud to announce the launch of an extraordinary new chapter in immersive art and dining experiences. As part of the incredibly successful TIME • RONE exhibition, AGWA will debut two exclusive sensory offerings: TIME • BAR and TIME • DINING.

TIME • RONE, an awe-inspiring installation by renowned artist RONE, opened in June 2024 transforming AGWA’s historic Centenary Galleries into a breathtaking world of art. The exhibition has achieved record visitation already, welcoming 49,737 visitors in July alone. Now, for the first time ever, visitors will have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in RONE’s art while enjoying exquisite fine dining experiences within the installation itself.

TIME • BAR will open its doors on Wednesday, August 28. Inspired by the prohibition era qne offers a luxurious escape from the city’s bustle. Located deep within the Centenary Galleries, this hidden den invites art enthusiasts and food lovers to unwind with signature snacks created by celebrated chef Guy Grossi, known for his acclaimed Italian restaurant Garum in Perth and longstanding empire of restaurants in Victoria including the iconic Grossi Florentino. Drinks, including a distinctive Mid-Century Martini, will be crafted especially for the venue by renowned Perth bartender Andy McIntyre. TIME • BAR will be open from 5pm until late, Wednesday to Saturday.

On Thursday September 5, AGWA will introduce TIME • DINING, an exclusive dining experience designed by RONE himself inspired by his moving artwork ‘The Empire’ at Burnham Beeches. Presented by St Hugo, this intimate, artistic and richly themed dining room will feature a soundscape composed by award-winning sound designer Nick Batterham and a sumptuous four-course menu by Guy Grossi. Each course will be paired with St Hugo wines sourced from its dedicated fine wine platform, VNTNR. Grossi’s menu will be inspired by the emotional depth of RONE’s artwork.

Grossi said: “The TIME • DINING experience blends the visual and culinary arts to create an Australian first and something truly special. The menu is crafted to complement RONE’s emotive installation, offering a feast that resonates with its surroundings.”

“In 2018 I completed a large-scale mural on Hay Street, at The Westin in Perth, where Guy Grossi’s acclaimed restaurant Garum is housed, so it feels serendipitous to be working with Guy to bring TIME • DINING to life at AGWA,” said Rone.

AGWA director Colin Walker describes TIME • DINING as a transformative experience, saying, “There is nowhere in Australia where you can sit and dine amongst art quite like this. TIME • DINING redefines experiential and immersive art, enhancing AGWA’s offerings with a deeper, richer experience.”

Walker said: “TIME has the perfect combination of being a serious and seriously impressive large-scale piece of visual art that also melds together music, immersion and theatre. You feel like you’re part of a performance and it is wowing the crowds. Perth audiences are getting something new and utterly unique. TIME • BAR and TIME • DINING will be a complete sensory experience adding another layer to a work that is already incredible. Audiences want more from their gallery and AGWA is giving them just that with our new bar and dining rooms.”

TIME • DINING will be available for two dinner sittings each evening, Thursday through Saturday. Guests can choose to book the entire dining room for a private group of 16 or join smaller, limited sittings to meet new friends. Each dinner will include a walk-through of the TIME • RONE exhibition, followed by an indulgent meal and a visit to TIME • BAR for a final course and drinks.
