Closed: It takes a bear to catch a thief!

Who doesn’t love Paddington Bear? Just in time for Christmas everyone’s favourite bear is back in the highly anticipated sequel Paddington 2.

After the first film I was excited to see what mischief Paddington could get himself into and he didn’t disappoint.

Paddington is now happily settled with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens, where he has become a popular member of the community, spreading joy and marmalade wherever he goes. With his Aunt Lucy’s (Imelda Staunton) 100th birthday coming up he begins searching for the perfect present.

Finding the perfect gift is not always an easy task but he finds one at Gruber’s Antique store. Gruber (Jim Broadbent) puts aside the book until Paddington can afford to purchase it – but just as he has saved enough money to be able to, the book is stolen, and he is accused as the thief.

Hugh Grant plays the villain Phoenix Buchanan and we see how the Brown’s, their neighbours and Paddington’s new friends come together to defeat him.

Jayson Mansaray – is he the thief of aunt Lucy’s present?

London Calling columnist Jayson Mansaray was lucky enough to attend the world Premier in London and meet some of the cast on the red carpet.

Jayson interviewed the stars of the film including Hugh Grant, Julie Walters, Hugh Bonneville and Ben Whishaw about the film.

World Premier of Paddington 2, London November 5 2017

Hugh Bonneville told Jayson, “Well having grown up with the books, the stories were really special to me.”

Julie Walters said Paddington is so popular as it’s utterly uplifting as the film centres on the goodness of people and inclusiveness and love in the community.

After seeing the film, myself I love the focus on community and how Paddington will do anything for his neighbours, even if he doesn’t get something in return.

Ben Whishaw who plays Paddington

“Paddington sees the goodness in everyone” which is the perfect message for children today and especially at Christmas.

Ben Whishaw who plays Paddington told Jayson, “…there is a thing about embracing outsiders and people who are more in need and vulnerable.”

Not many sequels live up to the original, but Paddington 2 certainly does.
