Having decided to choose an eatery within the CBD, Fenians Pub at Novatel Perth Langley fitted the bill nicely.
The bar has a comfortable and casual interior and if you prefer to sit outside there is alfresco seating facing the terrace.
They offer a $15 lunch menu from which we chose battered whiting and chips and Guinness pie with potato mash and peas.
The pie was in a ramekin with meat and vegies cooked with a Guinness gravy topped with a light pastry lid. To the side was a small dish of potato mash and peas.
The meat was very tender and tasty as was the side dish. It was a very enjoyable dish and a little too much to finish.
The whiting and chips were presented well on a wooden board. The chips came in a small wire basket set on the side of the two pieces of fish and a small pot of tartare sauce.
Although the fish and the crispy batter pleased the tastebuds the fish disintegrated into the batter.
Perhaps the fish would have been better as one thicker piece instead of two thin pieces. The chips were crunchy, crispy and moorish.
Both meals made a satisfying lunch.
